I started building road cases for my own gear in 2001, mostly because high quality professional road cases were too expensive, and a lot of the more affordable economy cases couldn't handle the abuse of the road. So, I decided to learn how to build professional cases on my own, I mean how hard could it be? I found out that it wasn't as easy as it looked, but through perseverance and a lot of trial and error, I eventually taught myself how to build high quality professional cases. After a few years of improving and perfecting my case designs, my musician friends started asking me to build cases for them also and they would call them a Trace case and soon the name stuck. Soon after that I started getting requests from all over the US.
